Feast of St. Agatha



the feast of St. Agatha is the patron saint of the metropolitan city.It is a feast day that is truly deeply felt by the citizens of Catania.It is celebrated every year from February 3 to 5, February 12 and August 17.In February to commemorate the martyrdom of the saint, in August for the return of her remains after they were taken to Constantinople as spoils of war.Characteristic of this feast day are the "candelore," depicting the arts and crafts that are carried on the shoulders of devotees.During the penultimate evening of February, it is possible to watch the fireworks in Piazza Borgo
